Unfolding the Queer Experience: "Patch the World" Exhibition Opens at BACC
Explore "Patch the World" at BACC (June 17–July 5, 2026). A landmark queer art exhibition curated by Dr. Morakot Meyer, exploring intimacy, identity, and unity.
BANGKOK – This June, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) transforms into a vibrant, introspective space for the LGBTQ+ community and art enthusiasts alike. Queer Art Thailand proudly presents “Patch the World — Between the Seams, Beyond the Surface,” a landmark group exhibition running from June 17 to July 5, 2026.
Curated by Dr. Morakot Meyer, a renowned researcher in multicultural studies and lecturer at Mahidol University, this exhibition challenges the notion of fixed queer identities. Instead, it invites visitors to view queerness as a dynamic process—a continuous negotiation between visibility and concealment, intimacy and distance.
Exploring the "Unfinished" World
The exhibition is divided into three interconnected segments:
-
Surface: Examines how queer bodies and desires are framed, perceived, and normalized within contemporary culture.
-
Between the Seams: Navigates the ambiguities and intimate daily negotiations that remain unresolved.
-
Beyond the Surface: Ventures into the emotional states and imaginative possibilities of building worlds outside heteronormative structures.
Featuring a diverse lineup of artists, including international voices from Taiwan and established Thai creators like Michael Shaowanasai, the exhibition showcases a rich tapestry of mediums. Visitors can expect to engage with traditional art forms, photography, video art, and personal archives that reflect a collective sense of vulnerability, survival, and care.

A Collaborative Future
"Patch the World" is not intended to present a finished or harmonious resolution. Rather, it acts as an ongoing process of creating a world that is, by nature, imperfect but deeply connected.
As Queer Art Thailand continues its mission to foster a safe space for dialogue between artists, the business sector, and the public, this exhibition stands as a testament to the power of art in communicating equality and diversity in a multicultural society.
