Where hand-woven textile Meets Cinema: Director Jacq’s "Minsterwood" Premieres at River City Bangkok
Every stitch tells a story; every thread hides a secret at "Minsterwood"
A rare art feast at the beginning of the year arrives at RCB Galleria 5. From 23 January to 8 March 2026, River City Bangkok transforms into a haunting, immersive monastery for “Minsterwood,” the visionary exhibition by Belgian artist Director Jacq (Wayn Traub).
The Artist Behind the Ritual Before relocating to Thailand in 2012, Director Jacq was a force in the European avant-garde. As the Artistic Director for the Bourla Opera in Antwerp and Le Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, he collaborated with icons like Jane Birkin and Alejandro Jodorowsky. Now, the pioneer of “Cinema Opera” brings his multidisciplinary genius to the heart of Bangkok.

A Decade in the Making “Minsterwood” is a physical prelude to a cinematic epic ten years in the making. At the center are 12 monumental "copes"—intricate vestments inspired by high Catholic clergy. These are not merely costumes; they are narrative paintings. Each piece required four to five months of intensive hand-embroidery on traditional Sakon Nakhon fabrics.

What to expect:
-
The World of Minsterwood: Step into a dark fairytale where nuns weave stories from the lives of the men they killed.
-
Authentic Artifacts: View the actual vestments and shields that will feature in the upcoming film.
-
Immersive Design: Explore a life-sized monastery setting accompanied by a haunting original soundtrack.
-
A Global Triptych: See collaborative works from 15 international and Thai artists, including Kasing Lung and Mu Pan.
