Since 1980, Hong Kong artists and designers have popularized art toys worldwide. With the creation and development of new styles, art toys have evolved beyond just being "toys". Hong Kong artists are now leaders in the art toy industry and are frequently invited to organize exhibitions in various countries. Their works have become iconic and valuable collectibles that art toy enthusiasts continue to cherish.
In the past, Hong Kong Art Toy Story has presented a collection of auctioned masterpieces, a series of works in museum possession, and 300 art toys in Let's Unbox! This exhibition was held inside the Thailand Toy Expo 2022, from September 9-18, 2022, and showcased the pioneering work of Hong Kong's artists that influenced the next generation of artists and designers to create unique characters, brands, and art toys.
In 2023, Hong Kong Art Toy Story will introduce the first Hong Kong Pavilion at the Thailand Toy Expo (TTE), welcoming over 300,000 visitors throughout the four-day event. The exhibition aims to capture the hearts of Thai audiences in the same way that the previous exhibition did by displaying the works of 20 carefully selected Hong Kong artists, providing new perspectives and experiences with art toys.
Get ready to meet renowned artists and designers, including Pat Lee, a comic artist and creative director who collaborated with DC and Marvel to create famous franchises such as Batman, Superman, Iron Man, X-Men, and more, and is also a co-founder of Toy Genius Limited, a company that has made its mark in the international art toy industry.
