First solo exhibition of beloved cartoon character Mamuang held at RCB
“OUY MA I” exhibition by Wisut Ponnimit on display at RCB Galleria 2 until 28 February
Wisut Ponnimit, the artist who creates cheerful “Mamuang” cartoon character of Mamuang has collaborated with Trendy Gallery and River City Bangkok in holding his first solo exhibition “UOY MA I” (Read - "I AM YOU") at RCB Galleria 2. The exhibition on display until the end of February has been held just in time for celebrating the New Year and greeting season.
Mamuang (literary means mango in Thai) with her cute and cheerful character is very popular among Thai and Japanese fans. Artist Wisut would love to bring happiness from his beloved character to audience via the exhibition. Audience can get up-close-and personal with Mamuang in the way they never experienced.
UOY MA I is about self-reflection. “How you see the world depends on your perspective on life”, so the artist uses Mamuang to be the reflections of audience as if they stand in front of the mirror. The exhibition features Mamuang’s large-sized paintings, in which she’s looking at herself in mirrors in various postures at those moments; from waking up in the morning to wandering in her dream world.
These are the largest paintings the artist ever created. What so special about this exhibition is that you will gain the extraordinary experience as if you see yourself reflected as Mamuang in the paintings. You can even imagine Mamuang whispering to you, "I am you." The artist would like you to let your imagination lead you to appreciate the art. You can take photos or selfies and imagine yourself as Mamuang.
