Fortune Teller at One Bangkok: Julie Stephen Chheng’s Nature Spirits Come to Life

French artist Julie Stephen Chheng brings interactive projections and augmented reality to One Bangkok in Fortune Teller, an exhibition running until 15 November 2026.

Presented with Alliance Française Bangkok, the exhibition draws on the Yijing, or Book of Changes, and philosophies from around the world. Animated eyes embody eight forces of nature, from water and fire to shadow, light and green leaves. Visitors encounter messages to interpret through their own experiences, opening a playful conversation about how we relate to our surroundings.

At the main installation, visitors interact with projected imagery to reveal messages and dreamlike landscapes. The experience continues around One Bangkok through the free Fortune Teller AR app, available for iOS and Android, which brings hidden nature-spirit characters to life.

Chheng is a Paris-based illustrator, author and designer whose practice moves between books, paper and digital media. A graduate of Arts Décoratifs de Paris, she was a digital arts laureate at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto in 2016. Her Uramado AR project and window designs for Hermès in Tokyo and Shanghai reflect her interest in bringing illustrated worlds into physical spaces.

The programme also includes creative workshops and a book corner curated by The Independent Print Club (IPC) by SPACEBAR ZONE.

Fortune Teller runs from 2 October to 15 November 2026. The main exhibition is on Level 2 of The Storeys, One Bangkok, with AR encounters elsewhere across the development. Check the official event page for activity registration and participation conditions.
