Reclaiming the Romance of Cinema

In an era of multiplexes, Sala Saneha (ศาลาเสน่หา) asks a simple question: How can cinema become romantic again? Founded by filmmaker Natchanon Vana, Pakapol Srirongmuang, and Dith Tanasetvilai, this cultural space on Decho Road is a multisensory "archive" where film transcends the screen to touch smell, taste, and social connection.

The Building: A 70-Year-Old Legacy

The venue is housed in a beautifully preserved heritage home that once served as an antique and diamond shop. The renovation by Godmother Studio honors the building’s history, preserving original wooden floors, decades of wall paint, and even the original vault—now repurposed as a wine cellar.

Located in a 70-year-old heritage home in Silom, Sala Saneha blends an intimate 25-seat cinema with a curated wine bar and a Southeast Asian library, redefining the "standalone cinThree Floors of Culture

  • The Library (2nd Floor): A sun-drenched sanctuary focused on Southeast Asian politics, arts, and anthropology. The collection features personal archives and donations, complemented by contemporary artworks from Bangkok CityCity Gallery.

  • The Wine Bar (2nd Floor): Archiving over 2,000 bottles, the selection highlights artisanal growers from Burgundy and rare Central European regions. The food menu offers a nostalgic "playful reinterpretation" of Bangkok’s Western-influenced cuisine from the 80s and 90s.

  • The Cinema (3rd Floor): The heart of the project is a 25-seat chamber designed with the intimacy of a jazz bar. It features six curated monthly selections, including independent films, Thai classics, and award-winning international cinema.
