Minsterwood: A Dark Fairytale Stitched into Reality at River City Bangkok
Step into a hauntingly beautiful monastery of hand-embroidered art and cinematic mystery as Director Jacq unveils his decade-long vision.
The year 2026 kicks off with a profound artistic statement at River City Bangkok. On January 22, the curtains rose on Minsterwood, an exhibition that serves as a tangible prologue to an upcoming epic film. This isn't just a gallery show; it is a portal into a dark fairytale crafted by Director Jacq, a visionary with 26 years of expertise across cinema, music, and theatre.

The Art of the Stitch: From Sakon Nakhon to the Big Screen
At the heart of Minsterwood is a breathtaking fusion of traditional Thai craft and avant-garde storytelling. Every piece on display is:
-
Hand-woven in Sakon Nakhon.
-
Hand-embroidered with intricate scenes from the Minsterwood script.
-
Functional Cinema History: These aren't just wall hangings—they are the actual costumes (ceremonial copes) to be worn by the film's characters.
The narrative follows a group of nuns deep within an enigmatic forest, weaving the story of a man they have slain into their very garments. Visitors get a rare, "up-close" look at the film’s symbolic language, accompanied by an original musical score composed by Jacq himself. At the opening Jacq also sang the beautiful song before the curtain being raised.

The opening night was a sensory experience unlike any other; before the curtains were raised, Director Jacq himself performed a hauntingly beautiful song that left the entire crowd —completely spellbound—setting the tone for the mysteries waiting within.

A Global Artistic Collaboration
The exhibition transforms RCB Galleria 5 into an immersive monastery. Beyond the textiles, the space features a life-sized red horse and a monumental religious triptych. This centerpiece includes contributions from a "who’s who" of contemporary Thai and international artists, including Kasing Lung, Mu Pan, and Rearngsak Boonyavanishkul, among many others.
Why You Can’t Miss It
As one of River City Bangkok’s most ambitious showcases this year, Minsterwood offers a 'cinematic exhibition design' rarely seen in the city. This world-first reveal allows you to step into a movie before it even hits the screen. The masterfully designed light and soundscape heighten the atmosphere, pulling you deeper into Jacq’s vision. Be sure to clear your schedule and take your time; the intricate details of each exhibit deserve your full immersion.
