Tribute Portfolio Debuts in Thailand with the Opening of Metropole Bangkok in Trendy Thonglor
Reimagining the glamour of 1920s Shanghai, Metropole Bangkok introduces Tribute Portfolio’s first boutique hotel experience in Thailand, set in the heart of Thonglor.
Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global collection of more than 30 hotel brands, has officially made its debut in Thailand with the opening of Metropole Bangkok, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, located in Bangkok’s fashionable Thonglor district.
Marking a highly anticipated milestone for the brand, Metropole Bangkok joins Tribute Portfolio’s family of independent boutique hotels known for distinctive character, design-driven storytelling, and a strong sense of place.
The newly rebranded hotel blends the elegance of colonial architecture with the cosmopolitan allure of 1920s Shanghai, transforming the property into a destination that speaks to both local tastemakers and international travellers. Inspired by Shanghai’s golden era — once celebrated as the “Paris of the East” — the hotel’s interiors weave together Chinoiserie influences, Art Deco details, and romantic Eastern symbolism, from dragons and guardian lions to delicate floral motifs.
At the heart of the design narrative is “Memoirs of Meiying,” a fictional love story between Meiying, a young woman from Shanghai, and Martin, an English traveller. Their story symbolises the meeting of East and West, cultural exchange, and timeless romance — themes reflected throughout the hotel’s art, architecture, and atmosphere.
“It gives me great pleasure to introduce Tribute Portfolio’s storytelling-driven hospitality to Thailand with the opening of Metropole Bangkok,” said Brad Edman, Market Vice President for Thailand, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International. “Tribute Portfolio is a growing collection of characterful, independent boutique hotels united by a shared spirit. This makes it a perfect fit for Thonglor’s creative, forward-thinking lifestyle.”
Metropole Bangkok offers 116 stylish rooms, including 113 Studios, two Studio Executive Suites, and one One-Bedroom Suite. Each room is equipped with a kitchenette, smart toilet, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests can also enjoy a range of facilities, including onsite parking, a 24-hour fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool, and a sauna.
Strategically located in Thonglor, the hotel provides convenient access to Sukhumvit–Asoke via BTS Thonglor and MRT Petchaburi, and is just minutes from Rama 9. Suvarnabhumi International Airport is approximately 40 minutes away, with easy connections via the Airport Rail Link. The location also allows seamless travel to key industrial hubs such as Chonburi, Rayong, and Ayutthaya, making it ideal for business travellers. Guests visiting Bangkok for medical purposes can also take advantage of complimentary shuttle services to Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej Hospital.
“At Metropole Bangkok, we are excited to welcome guests to a space where the timeless charm of 1920s Shanghai meets the vibrant energy of Thonglor,” said Sascha Kunze, Cluster General Manager. “Every detail — from Chinoiserie-inspired accents to rich crimson and gold tones — is designed to evoke romance, creativity, and a sense of discovery, all through a modern lens.”
