Immerse yourself in the essence of Bangkok's historic Chinatown with an exclusive exhibition, "Through the Lens of a Local: Chinatown Chronicles," presented by ASAI Bangkok Chinatown in collaboration with Nick McGrath. The event showcases McGrath's ten-year journey capturing the hidden gems and allure of this vibrant neighborhood.
Join the ASAI Bangkok Chinatown's Courtyard on January 27, 2024, from 5pm to 8pm for an evening of visual storytelling. Admission is free.
Renowned Australian photographer Nick McGrath, a Bangkok resident since 2011, will unveil a series of captivating images depicting the lively markets, tranquil alleyways, and intricate details that define Chinatown. McGrath's exclusive talk during the event will provide insights into the stories behind his compelling images and the art of capturing the perfect Chinatown shot.
More than just an artist, McGrath has been a vital part of Chinatown's cultural development. His creative hub, established in a century-old shophouse in 2012, and the co-founding of the Cho Why community art space in 2014 have played a significant role in revitalizing the area.
The event goes beyond art appreciation. A portion of the proceeds from artwork sales will support the Sati Foundation, a grassroots organization dedicated to providing healthcare and education to underserved children in Thailand— a cause close to McGrath's heart. Explore McGrath's captivating photos at ASAI Bangkok Chinatown until March 31, 2024.
