Marriott Celebrates 10,000 Hotels Worldwide as It Nears Its 100th Anniversary

As it approaches its 100th anniversary, Marriott International celebrates the opening of its 10,000th property worldwide with a new luxury retreat on the edge of India's famed Ranthambore National Park—highlighting the evolution of modern hospitality and the growing appeal of experience-led travel.

Marriott International has reached a major milestone with the opening of its 10,000th property worldwide: the JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in India.

The opening comes as the hospitality giant prepares to celebrate its centennial anniversary next year, marking nearly a century of growth since its beginnings as a nine-seat root beer stand founded by J. Willard and Alice Marriott in 1927.

Located just a short drive from Ranthambore National Park—one of India's most renowned wildlife destinations—the new resort brings together luxury hospitality and nature-focused travel. The property features 127 accommodations, including guestrooms, suites, and private villas designed to immerse guests in the surrounding landscape.

Beyond its proximity to the national park, the resort offers a range of dining experiences inspired by both local and international flavours, from contemporary Indian cuisine and regional specialties to botanical cocktails influenced by the area's natural surroundings.

The opening is particularly significant for the JW Marriott brand, which now spans more than 130 properties globally. It also strengthens Marriott International's luxury portfolio, which includes nearly 700 hotels and resorts across 74 countries and territories.

For Marriott, the milestone reflects not only the scale of its global footprint—now spanning 146 countries and territories—but also the changing expectations of modern travellers, who increasingly seek meaningful experiences alongside comfort and luxury.

The company has recently expanded its portfolio with several notable openings around the world, including the debut of The St. Regis Budapest in Hungary, The Westin Playa Vallarta in Mexico, Artik Suzhou, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy in China, and StudioRes by Marriott Greensboro Airport in the United States.

As travel continues to evolve, Marriott's 10,000th property serves as a reminder of how hospitality has transformed over the past century—from simply providing a place to stay to creating destinations that connect travellers with culture, nature, and local experiences.
